As with most kids, we love sandwiches. There is something about having your entire meal in between delicious bread that makes it so appealing to us. We have already said how much we prefer seafood over chicken, so we decided to try to make some fancy shrimp sandwiches. But just having shrimp on a bun isn’t exactly what we would call, “fancy.” But if you add some vegetables on top to make your Mom happy, then all of a sudden your boring sandwich becomes something worth sharing!

Starting with the Shrimp
Frozen cooked shrimp is one of the easiest ways to eat seafood in our opinion. We started by letting them thaw in the sink with some cold water.

Once they were ready, we added them to a saute’ pan and added our seasonings. They just took a minute to look delicious.

How to Make Fancy Slaw for Shrimp Sandwiches
When we first saw this recipe we were a bit worried about all of the chopping involved in making the slaw. When we started our shopping list, we came across a bag of prepared coleslaw mix that was already cut and prepared! Could this dinner get any easier?

We added our yogurt instead of the Greek because we always have it on hand. Then we mixed in the buttermilk and mayonnaise. From here we adjusted some of the ingredients because we wanted a more mild tasting slaw so we could taste the shrimp. We think you should play around with the amounts also to make it just the way you like it.

What Buns to Use
Ever since our Mom forgot to buy hamburger buns and we experimented with making our own, that is all we have eaten since. If you haven’t tried to make this recipe yet, we strongly suggest you try it! Homemade hamburger buns go a long way in making a sandwich fancy!
